Inside the Experience
Shellys Cafe, nestled at 504 E Main St in Stigler, Oklahoma, stands out as a welcoming stop for anyone craving hearty, home-style cooking. From the moment you walk in, the warmth of the owner and staff shines through, creating an inviting atmosphere that complements the food perfectly.
The menu at Shellys Cafe celebrates comfort food done right. Dishes like the hand-pattied hamburger steak, served with perfectly crispy fries and okra, showcase a dedication to freshness and balanced flavors. The hamburger steak’s savory gravy and tender onions add depth without overpowering the plate. For those who love bold and layered tastes, the Angel Fire Burger, loaded with mushrooms, jalapeños, onions, and rich gravy, offers a unique and satisfying bite—though be prepared to assemble this culinary marvel yourself.
Other favorites include the classic chicken fried steak and homemade catfish, each delivering generous portions and well-executed flavors. The crispy, golden onion rings are noteworthy as a handmade treat that pairs well with any entrée. Even desserts, such as Italian cake and coconut cream pie, receive high praise, making sweet endings a must-try experience here.
While some guests have noted the need for deeper cleaning, the overall atmosphere remains casual and friendly, perfect for a relaxed meal with family or friends. Service tends to be warm and efficient, though some might crave more personal interaction from servers.
What truly sets Shellys Cafe apart is its sincere focus on classic, well-prepared dishes and an inviting environment where generosity is felt both on and off the plate. Whether you’re passing through for work or enjoying a family trip, the flavors at Shellys Cafe are unforgettable and well worth a visit.
“ Passing through for work. Owner and staff are warm and engaging. Food was fresh and cooked perfectly. I had the hamburger steak with fries and okra. Fries and okra were crispy and crunchy. Hamburger steak was hand pattied and not overcooked. Onions and gravy were very good. I would definitely recommend. ”
“ I'm on a trip with my family, this was the first restaurant we tried. The food was great! I had the fried jalapenos, and an Angel Fire Burger. The burger had mushrooms, jalapenos, onions, and a ton of gravy. The burger arrived on the plate "open" (see attached picture), so you have to assemble it. Definitely need a fork and knife to eat that one. The staff was friendly, and the wait was short! Would recommend ”
“ We were in this past weekend. The food was really good! I had the chicken fried steak, delicious! My husband had the catfish, it was pretty good. Staff was friendly and took good care of us! The restaurant over all was dirty.... We are not clean freaks or picky people at all, but they need to do some deep cleaning. We will eat here again, just on more casual terms. (Not when we are all dressed up.) ”
“ I never ate breakfast at this place and I was happy with the food. My server was nice but she only took my order and literally never checked back with me. I didn't need anything cause the food runner got it. I love connection especially with Servers and I will always tip well. I feel challenged in my tipping when I'm paying robots to take my order. Anyways maybe paying in the front just lightens the load who knows. I got full needless to say. ”
“ Great place to eat. Extremely clean. Staff is super friendly. Food delicious and plenty. Price is great. First time eating there. Number 1 ”
